Like all Dominicans, including St. Catherine of Siena, we think of St. Dominic as our founder and all that we are and do is inspired by his vision of a Preaching Order dedicated to Truth and to sharing with others the fruits of contemplation.
Our principal house is in Stone, Staffordshire, and hence we are sometimes known as the 'Stone' Sisters. It was a foundation made by Margaret Hallahan who, in 1845, was the first to found a congregation of non-enclosed Dominican women in Britain.
Other congregations of Dominican sisters were founded in different areas of England during the 19th century, and in 1929 five of these were amalgamated to form our present Congregation.
We rejoice in being members of an international Order of Preachers whose roots go back to the 13th century. In addition to the apostolic sisters, the Order comprises the brothers (friars), contemplative nuns, and lay people.
