Mission

      Fra Angelico
      Called to follow Christ in the Order of Preachers, we are inheritors of a tradition and spirit handed on by Dominic, Catherine, and numberless faithful Dominicans who have proclaimed the Word of God.

      As part of the Dominican Family we are called, individually and corporately, to a special MINISTRY OF THE WORD.

      The Word we preach
      is first received into our hearts;
      reflected upon in prayer and study;
      experienced, shared, and celebrated
      in Community.

      In proclaiming the Word we are called to respond creatively to new developments in the Church and in a society where the Christian message is often seen as irrelevant, and where what is good struggles against forces of disintegration.

      This is Our Challenge

      To explore new ways of living and preaching,
      of educating and of evangelising,
      of engaging in ecumenical dialogue
      and inter-faith communication,
      and of exposing and countering
      injustice, poverty and violence:
      "ALWAYS SPEAKING THE TRUTH IN LOVE" (Eph.4:15)
      We still are, or have been engaged in the following:
      Chaplaincies: In school, hospital and prison
      Catechesis: In parish and elsewhere.
        speech therapy; ministry with deaf people;
        medicine;
        educational psychology;
        writing;
        art work

      St. Dominic's Priory School

      THE WORD

      is proclaimed by the washing of the feet as well as by the Sermon on the Mount: the ministry of the Word cannot be separated from the

      MINISTRY OF SERVICE.

      In this spirit
      we recognise our communion with, and reach out to, the disadvantaged, the frail, and the elderly,
      the disabled, the poor, the oppressed,
      and those in need of spiritual support; always aware that in giving we also receive.

      We have a Nursing Home in Stone; and are involved in one in Leicester; and we have a Specialist School for children with physical disabilities at St. Rose's, Stroud, Glos.

      We hope to give all our sisters
      the opportunity to develop their individual gifts
      in the service of the Gospel.
