Study, directed to the preaching mission of the Order, is essential to its work. For this reason, St. Dominic replaced the monastic tradition of manual labour with the obligation of study. Our role as Dominicans demands that we devote time, thought and energy to deepening our understanding and appreciation of the many facets of God's wisdom, so that we might share it with others. This also entails living reflectively with the forms of Christian expedience which come our way.
